After the great British weather caused the abandonment of the first Mitsubishi Motors Regional Finals in early August it is with great excitement that Firle Place International this weekend delivered qualification places for competitors aiming for the 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Cup.

Hosted on the Badminton Estate on 1st – 2nd May 2018, Essex’s Ricky Hilton did the double by qualifying two horses for the Mitsubishi Motors Cup in the BE100 Regional Final after a win on his own Bank C V in section U and fourth place in section Q on Jill Prain’s Kilcannon Will He. Thirty one year old Ricky secured a win in section U on the six year old Bank C V with a score of 31.8 after a clear round in both jumping phases, whilst 14 year old Jenna Good also produced a double clear to complete on her dressage score of 27.5 penalties in section Q, taking the win on her own Trewithian Hawkeweed.

Experienced Mitsubishi Motors Cup competitors; Alyson Parker (J J Malone), Sophia Icke (Think Tank Think) and Karen Maurice (Panache II) have also all secured their place to return to the event in 2018 after a top five placing in the BE100 sections.

In the competitive BE90 sections Jenny Naylor-Davis booked her place to the Badminton based event for a third year in a row on her own 10 year old gelding Jump Que after finishing on her dressage score of 31 in section G. Harriet Gillam won section H of the BE90 on her own six year old gelding Milchem Las Vegas to collect her qualification to the Mitsubishi Motors Cup.

If entered next year, six riders from the BE90 and four from the BE100 Regional Finals at Firle Place will be making their debut in the prestigious British Eventing fixture at Badminton in early May, which brings together the top riders at BE90 and BE100 level from across the country for two days of thrilling competition.

Ahead of the first Mitsubishi Motors Regional Final, Great Witchingham International hosted a BE100 two day event which gave riders the very first opportunity to qualify directly for the 2018 Mitsubishi Motors Cup. Jasmine Raven with Knockanroe Spirit and Millie Harris on Stambrook Miss D Mena placed first and second respectively to pick up their tickets to enter the BE100 next year.
